Our Story

We met our senior year at New York University while enrolled in a yearlong class. Though a journalism thesis class isn't the most romantic of settings, we both had an initial spark, but as with all good things, it took almost the entire year to flourish.

So it all really began the week of graduation when Dominic asked Sam to go and grab doughnuts which turned into an invitation to go out for a few beers… After only a weekend together, Sam took off for a trip to Japan, and Dominic headed to England for the summer. In what some would describe as a leap of faith, Sam booked a flight to England just a month later (she couldn't stay away from him) and got to meet the extended Curran clan. Undeterred by that experience, Sam decided to give Dom a chance and date him long distance while he figured out a way to move back to New York, having just returned to Los Angeles…

Ten months later, after a handful of cross-country trips where we both realized we really liked spending time together, Dom traveled to New York for a job interview, stayed with Sam, and just never left. Packed into an actual shoebox of a room with a tiny twin bed and a close-up view into every passing M train, the circumstances may have been less than ideal but at least we were finally together in the same city…

Fast forward 7.5 years and we’ve shared three more New York addresses, adopted the love of our lives (Arugula), and packed everything up and shipped it to LA... Along the way, we’ve had many adventures together. We’ve woken up at 4 am to catch the sunrise from the Empire State Building and walked from the tippy top to the tippity bottom of Manhattan. We’ve driven across the country four times, once through a major blizzard in a soccer mom van packed with crap, including Dom’s childhood bookcase. We’ve seen some of our favorite artists at iconic venues like Father John Misty at the Rainbow Room and the Hollywood Forever Cemetery, the Arctic Monkeys at Red Rocks, Billy Joel at MSG, and Elton John at Dodger Stadium for his “last-ever” US concert. We’ve also been swimming in a fjord in Oslo, leaned into the bottomless frozen drinks at the Margaritaville in Puerto Rico, biked around the Aran islands on a tandem bike and consumed a keg’s worth of Guinness in the process (Dom with Sam’s support), and famously waited hours to see the bats emerge from the South Congress bridge in Austin…

And now we’re taking on our biggest adventure yet- finally getting married!
